Here is a sample of the topnotch ship registration certificate unveiled by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) last week. It has over seventeen overt and covert features and reputed to be almost impossible to forge.

NIMASA has taken a step in the right direction to enhance the Nigerian ship registry, however, it has to channel the same energy towards addressing the enormous bureaucracy in the ship registration process.
