BULLS: Tactful Customs

BULLS: Tactful Customs
Samples of the 470 pump action rifles seizure by the Nigeria Customs Service

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) seems to have heard the gospel of in-depth investigation preached by the Nigerian citizens as the Service has displayed high level of tact in handling complicated issues like the interception of arms and ammunition. In the past the norm had been to display the seized items before the press and skimpily give names of importers and shipping companies involved.

However, the two set of ammunitions intercepted in two separate operations on the 9th and 10th of July, 2018 respectively at the Tin Can Island Customs Command has showed that the Service is tilting to a more discreet way of handling the situation.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Uche Ejesieme, the Command was in no rush to disclose the names of the importer/ agents as such move may derail the efforts of the investigative committee.

This should be the norm! Detailed, if not conclusive reports should be presented to the public on such cases!
