The Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Gbemi Saraki, the Immediate past Secretary General of the Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control for West and Central African Region, Barr. (Mrs.) Mfon Usoro and other maritime veterans will brainstorm at a  one-day maritime symposium, next week.

One of Nigeria’s foremost ship-owners, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun has slated the conference on “the Establishment of a Nigerian Global Trading Fleet” to hold virtually on Friday 5th February 2021, as part of activities to mark his 70th birthday celebration.

While Gbemi Saraki will be the Special Guest of Honour, Mfon Usoro will present the lead paper, other dignitaries to speak at the virtual summit include; the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the MORBOD GROUP; which engages in deepsea shrimping, Barr. (Mrs.) Margaret Orakwusi, the Chairperson of the Sealink Promotional Shipping Company (SPV), Mrs. Dabney Shall-Holma, among others.

Ogbeifun has encouraged maritime stakeholders to register and participate in the summit, noting that it would feature discussions with regards to the Establishment of a Nigerian Global Trading Fleet.

The symposium will also aim to address concerns about the managerial style to be utilized for the new crude carriers and other container vessels as Nigeria explores strategies for national fleet expansion.

Other activities to celebrate Ogbeifun at 70 which were postponed include; a book launch titled; “Greg Ogbeifun’s Autobiography- (NOT ALWAYS EASY, MY VOYAGE FROM OBSCURITY)”, the endowment of the Institute of Maritime Technology in Edo State polytechnic and a Thanksgiving Service and Entertainment previously scheduled to hold on Saturday 13th February 2021.
