BULLS: NIWA Going Digital

NIWA Commissions Three Patrol Boats, Taskforce For Lagos Waterways
R-L: The Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr. George Moghalu addressing stakeholders in Lagos yesterday, NIWA General Manager, Marine, Engr. Joseph Ororo and the Lagos Area Manager, Engr. Sarat Braimah; during the commissioning of three patrol boats and NIWA taskforce in Lagos.
The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has unveiled plans to go fully digital with electronic registration of boat operators to commence on January 1st, 2022.
Doing such registrations manually isn’t in sync with the ease of doing business mandate of the Federal Government and launch of an electronic register is a commendable innovative approach.
While the Authority has stressed that the only contact with NIWA staff during the e-system will be physical inspection of their water crafts, the proposal that the online platform would alert users three months before the expiration of their licenses is also laudable.
