At least five persons died in the Wednesday tanker fire in Onitsha, Anambra State. A woman and her child were victims as forty buildings and hundreds of shops were also torched in the disaster caused by the derailing of a tanker loaded with petrol.
Less than 48 hours after this ghastly incident, another petrol tanker fire hits Onitsha causing more damage early on Friday morning but no life was lost.
Onitsha has always been on fire literarily as a business hub but these twin fire outbreaks in less than 48hours should spur the State Government to take precautionary measures.
