BEARS: COVID One-Nine

There are very few things about the coronavirus (COVID-19) that could be interesting, let alone hilarious. The virus has caused enormous hardship to billions around the world and the very mention of the pandemic strikes fear into many. Interestingly, COVID-19 could also provoke laughter when pronounced ‘rightly’ as the President of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Mr. Bashir Ambi did last week. His trick was simple. Mallam Bashir called the virus COVID –One—Nine like numbers after a decimal point. The two occasions he pronounced COVID—One—Nine in his speech got the audience engulfed in humour at the 24^th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society. Next time you have to mention COVID—Nineteen, please make it more humourous. Just call it COVID—One—Nine.
