Shippers’ Council Gets Transparency Award From ICPC

 The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has received an award as a foremost anti-corrupt and transparent organization by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission last week.

ICPC gave the Nigerian Shippers’ Council the award during the Council’s 2nd Integrity Awards for Staff of the organization.

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Barr. Hassan Bello noted that the Council’s mandate is aimed at contributing optimally to the economic development of the nation while protecting the rights and interests of all stakeholders in the transport sector.

Hassan Bello who was represented by the Director, Legal Services, Mr. Samuel Abu Vongtau commended the twelve recipients of the integrity awards who were selected from the zonal and head offices.

“I believe that you must have distinguished yourselves one way or the other for your colleagues to have nominated you for this prestigious award” he said.

Meanwhile, the representative of ICPC, Mr. Eegunjobi Tope noted that such efforts to eschew corruption and reward excellence and integrity would only spur workers to give their best for the organization

“We advocate other Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) to take a cue from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and reward people with integrity and character” Mr. Egunjobi said.

Speaking on behalf of the twelve awardees, Mr. Bashir Ambi expressed gratitude to the Shippers’ Council management for coming up the initiative to reward loyal and contented workers.

He stressed that the only way to maintain integrity is to remain contented and not seek opportunities to circumvent processes. He also noted that the Nigerian Shippers’ Council already carries an ambiance that makes it difficult for any worker to be corrupt or nonchalant.
