BEARS: Wasteful Amaechi

BEARS: Wasteful Amaechi
Bears Thumbs Down Amaechi

Nigeria is in dire need to cut expenses amid lack of revenue, yet the Federal Ministry of Transportation successfully wasted millions to organize a 2-day maritime stakeholder’s conference on“Reforming the Maritime Industry”. Stakeholders only reiterated the many challenges facing the industry with no new solutions proffered.

There have been series of such maritime summits organized recently by the Nigerian Shippers Council in collaboration with Tell magazine, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, African Ship-owners Association, Marine Engineers, Kings Communication in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, amongst others. These conferences were more result oriented than the one organized by the Transport ministry.

It was needless to organize that conference and even Amaechi cannot say he wasn’t aware of 90% of the issues raised at the summit. Little wonder the Customs, a major player in the nation’s maritime domain, was absent.

Should we continue to waste the nation’s resources on such frivolous and haphazard meetings? No!

Amaechi abeg manage Transport money well o!

Abi na so Transport ministry wan dey chop government money?
