BEARS: Compt. Onyeka Receives Baptism Of Change
The recent report that the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Tin Can Island Customs Command, Compt. Frank Onyeka is targeting two hours cargo clearance for compliance traders with the full implementation of the newly introduced Unified Customs Management System called B’ Odogwu suggests that he is beginning to chase substance than clout, as seemed on his assumption of office.
He had caught the image of a Customs officer so publicity crazy that most of the stories became so nauseating and embarrassing to any good image.
Now that the publicity is being moderated with direction, Compt. Onyeka should try and complete what his predecessor, ACG Dera Nnadi could not finish. The much needed Time Release Study report that took time and resources should be released to aid the effective implementation of B’ Odogwu.
Tin Can Customs has no business having cargo release document processing centre at Nnewi building, Apapa, not to talk of having human“bus stops” in officers and men whose activities negate the spirit and letters of trade facilitation. These and many others, are the tasks before Compt. Onyeka. Help the CGC to manage Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) better. Receive this baptism of fire to ignite change! Receive it!
