CRFFN Debunks Lack Of Relevance Claim
Sir, Mike Jukwe

The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarders in Nigeria (CRFFN) has debunked claims that maritime institutions have lost confidence in the Council as alleged in a maritime publication, last week.

In a statement signed by the head, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Chinyere Uromta, the Registrar of the Council Sir, Mike Jukwe said that the claim originated from the  Registrar of the Freight Forwarding Academy of Nigeria (FFAN), Mr. Joseph Anabaraonye who became disgruntled with the Council when his institution fell short of the criteria for accreditation adding that  Anabaraonye has tried all he could in the past to lure the Council into accrediting his institution and when all attempts failed he has since seen nothing good in the efforts of CRFFN to reposition the freight forwarding sub sector.

According to him, “the era has gone where the freight forwarding profession was seen as an all comers affair where unqualified individuals, unregistered and unacredited  corporate bodies, institutions or associations find themselves in the helms of the affairs of the industry.”

Jukwe affirmed  that the Council has laid down procedures, guidelines and principles as stipulated by the CRFFN enabling Act on registration of qualified individuals, freight forwarders and corporate bodies as well as accreditation of associations and training institutions and programmes and would not fall short of those criteria, stressing that Anabaonye has no locus to speak for other maritime institutions as the operations of his institution are deemed illegal.

He maintained that CRFFN is open at all times to register and accredit any individual, corporate bodies, associations, training programmes and institutions that meet the requirements of the Council.

He therefore called on all stakeholders to join the efforts of CRFFN to move the industry forward.
