NPCC, Industry Stakeholders Set For Discourse On Trade Facilitation, Nation’s Ports Competitiveness
The Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC) and key industry stakeholders are set for discussions on the importance of trade facilitation and efficiency for competitiveness at the nation’s ports.
Chairman of the NPCC, Mr. Bolaji Sunmola, disclosed that the talks would hold during the Council’s second quarterly meeting on Thursday, 17 September 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos.
He emphasized that advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement remained the main objective for interrogating trade processes for efficiency at the ports.
His words: “The theme for this meeting is :”Simplifying Cross Border Trade and Enhancing Ease of Doing Business at Our Ports,” a subject of growing strategic importance to Nigeria’s maritime and port sector, particularly within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Are(AfCFTA).
“As Africa advances towards deeper economic integration, the need to streamline cross-border procedures, enhance port efficiency, and eliminate trade bottlenecks has become increasingly imperative.”
The session is expected to convene key stakeholders across government, regulatory agencies, port operators, logistics providers, and the private sector to deliberate on practical strategies for enhancing trade facilitation, reducing bottlenecks, and improving competitiveness within cross-border operations.
