Customs Pledges Support For Maritime Policy Dialogue Against Human Trafficking, Stowaways
The Comptroller – General of Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi on Tuesday received a delegation of MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame (WoFHoF)Initiative and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) who came on a courtesy visit to the Customs headquarters, Abuja.
The delegation was led by the Director General of NAPTIP, Hajia Binta Adamu and Hajia Lami Tumaka, Board of Trustees member of MMS WoFHoF Initiative.
MMS WoFHoF Initiative and NAPTIP sought the collaboration of Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) for a one-day National Maritime Policy Dialogue on combating Human Trafficking by sea and Stowaways scheduled for Thursday,February 26, 2026 in Lagos.
The event with the theme :Safe Seas, Safe Lives: Combating Stowaways and Human Trafficking in the Maritime Industry , is a multi-stakeholders engagement event. The Nigerian Shippers Council had bought into the initiative, setting up a working committee.
Speaking at the event also attended by the management team members of Customs, the CGC said the Service is committed to collaborations, further pledging the participation of Customs in the larger industry-wide committee.
