PTML Customs Reimagines Leadership Capacity To Boost Operational Efficiency

The Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intensified efforts to improve operational efficiency with the organisation of a leadership seminar for senior officers aimed at strengthening service delivery.
The seminar, held at the command recently, focused on enhancing leadership capacity, professionalism and teamwork among officers.
The initiative aligns with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.
Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Nura Miko, said effective leadership remains critical to achieving the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and the suppression of smuggling.
Miko noted that the command would continue to promote programmes designed to improve the welfare, health and productivity of officers, including the recently introduced Work-Life Balance Initiative.
Participants at the seminar attended sessions on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct.
Delivering the first lecture, titled “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence”, Miko urged officers to embrace teamwork and strengthen collaboration to enhance operational performance.
He commended participants for their active involvement and challenged them to apply the knowledge gained to improve service delivery across the command.
The acting controller further reassured stakeholders and the trading community of the command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and the ease of doing business.
Senior officers from the ranks of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs participated in the seminar.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge of Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge of the command’s Legal Unit.
Miko encouraged officers to remain dedicated to their duties, noting that the command had established a system for recognising and rewarding diligence, selflessness and exceptional service.
