BULLS: Common Sense!
The
Port Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) and the accompanying Port Service Support Portal(PSSP) were launched in Abuja last week as a means of curtailing the rate of corruption at the nation’s ports. Wonderful idea, from all the agencies and stakeholders at the port, it promises transparency in operations and rapid response to complaints. The fear, however, is the subversion of this guideline by some operators, with the excuse of exigency and change in government policy, which has become a tenable excuse these days. How long can an aggrieved shipper wait for justice in event of a damage arising from an operator’s default? If the SOP guarantees corruption-free operation, does it guarantee justice? Take note, Shippers’ Council, as we make just a “common sense!”
