At last, the maritime industry is about to begin to play Maritime in politics. The age-long descent into abandonment is because of the seeming apolitical nature of the operators and the industry itself standing aloof. A tour of the ports from East to West shows fast-aging facilities or infrastructure that lost touch with upgrade over the years without reinvestment. But with the Maritime Agenda now being negotiated with political parties, first being NNPP, a winner in 2023 will fly maritime as centre-piece of development. Hope is berthed here.
