It is encouraging to note that the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has been engaging the media with training. Many other agencies are yet to resume this, no doubt. But while NIMASA is commended for this feat, the content of the training must not be limited to agency affairs. Building capacity in the industry is a key role of NIMASA but where the content is only about how to understand the function of NIMASA in relation to industry role what happens to other technical areas? Or, does the training guarantee job opportunity from NIMASA to effectively put the knowledge to work? Bravo! But rethink the content of these trainings and get the best results.
