The aviation industry has continued to improve its safety standards despite other challenges facing the sector. Recently, the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika presented the to President Muhammadu Buhari the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council President Certificate which was awarded to Nigeria for its progress in resolving aviation security and oversight deficiencies, and for its ongoing commitment to the effective implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices.
Similarly Nigeria scored 96.4% in improved security in civil aviation. This is a robust improvement in the sector. Nevertheless, more attention needs to be given to other areas of the nation’s aviation sector.
