The Eko Electricity Distribution Company has said the floods that resulted from the torrential rainfall on Saturday caused damage to some of its equipment in Lekki, Ikoyi, Ijora, Victoria Island and some other parts of Lagos metropolis under its coverage.
The EKEDC said on Sunday that the floods caused water seepage into some sensitive and vital equipment, resulting in the shutdown of some distribution substations as well as some 11/33KV injection substations.
The company, in a statement signed by its General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Godwin Idemudia, said some low tension and high tension poles and lines were also felled by the floods.
It said the EKEDC technical experts had since swung into action to clear all the faults within the shortest time possible.
While expressing optimism that all faults would be fixed soon, Idemudia appealed to all affected by the outage occasioned by the floods to “bear with the company while the restoration process lasts.”
The company said the injection substations affected by the floods included the Lekki Transmission Station and those in Agungi, Lekki, Ademola and Anifowoshe.
It said, “Victoria Garden City, Waterfront, Maroko and Oniru injection stations are completely out. We need to look at the extent of the effect of the flood on our equipment.
“However, we are presently working round the clock to restore supply to our esteemed customers.”
