A Birthday ‘Coup’ For Rollens Macfoy At 60
Who says it is not good to be good? Friends and associates threw a surprise 60th birthday bash for Mrs. Rollens Macfoy, Chief Executive Officer, Ocean Deep Services Limited, on Friday at Zen Garden, Ikeja in Lagos.
She walked into the hall, lost in the mist of surprise, transfixed as a result, but got awoken the next moment by the reality. She stood for a while, her eyes racing through faces present as though accusing them of a coup d’etat. But then feeling pleasantly disappointed that her husband and closest friends kept the lead away from her.
That is the potency of relationship. It was a different package of birthday celebration- full of sincere tributes and admiration from friends and family members.
For everything said about the celebrant had a witness to it. Unlike political birthdays where celebrants are addressed in borrowed robes.
What came out more prominent in the tributes were her commitments to industry, empathy, truth, virtues, family values and charity. She embodies all, with humility as the icing on the cake.
Her leadership quality was commended. She is assertive and goal-driven.
What was also significant is that she has always lent herself for assistance and support to others when it matters, giving credence to the belief that social networking and relationship are not just rooted in the law of reciprocity, but better expressed in being sacrificial and free-handed.
Testimonials of some Seafarers about her empowerment kits with landed properties and investment mentorship featured at the occasion, raising the question: How many employers of labour today are this workers-welfare-inclined?
As the president of Women in Maritime Africa,WIMA-Nigeria, members were everywhere in white elegant robes in distinguished flavours .
It was indeed a Friday of friends and families- immediate, professional, old school, MMS Hall of Fame, and social families.
Noted, were a crop of up-widely creative and ambitiously impactful younger women in the maritime industry, ready to take leadership in their chosen career paths. In fact, these were the lead “coup plotters” of the Surprise Birthday party.
The leader of the pack in this, is Mrs. Theodora Nwaeze, an amazing soul, full of grace. Mrs.Faith Hope Aloyscious, another gracious soul and sister’s keeper, who is the closest of them all to the celebrant, was the chief informant and logistics officer.
Mrs.Rollens Macfoy is urged to arrest them all, without charges because they have a mother and another mentor in Barr. Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere, SAN, also in attendance, who will ensure they are swiftly discharged.
Others in attendance include: Mrs. Ify Akerele; Barr. Mrs. Gloria Kanabe; Mrs Irene Macfoy and husband; Ms.Toyin Oyeleke; Mrs.Temilade Ogunniyi; Mrs. Chizoba Anyika; Mrs.ChiChi Azike; Mrs.Chinwe Anaroke; Faith Hope Aloyscious; Theodora Nwaeze ; Mrs.Vivian Chimezie Azubuike; Hon. Olaitan Williams; among many other radiant ladies and gentlemen, who included, Kingsley Anaroke and Kenneth Jukpor.
There were many people who were part of the coup on the Whatsapp platform who could not make it to the venue. Chief Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa in particular, joined in spirit from Abuja as she followed the flow of events.
Their love and affection were duly recognized by those present at the party.
Happy birthday and congratulations to Mrs. Macfoy.
