Merchant Navy, MMS Plus Congratulate Dakuku
The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association have congratulated Dr. Dakuku Peterside on his appointment as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
The Merchant Navy made its congratulatory remark in a press release on wednesday signed by the National President, Engr. Alalade Matthew.
“We welcome the Director General of NIMASA onboard and urge him to appoint technocrats to beef up his administration. Also our Association appeals for national carriers (Ships) so as to employ our members. We are ready to work with the new Director General in making sure his administration is successful” He said.
However, the Association advised Dr. Dakuku Peterside and the Minister of Transport and the Director General of NIMASA, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi to shelve personal interest and work together for the interest of the maritime sector as they noted that the Nigerian Seafarers had suffered unemployment and slave labour wages in recent times.
The Association which is the umbrella body for the senior Seafarers also admonished the new Director General of NIMASA to focus on capacity building and to making sure the Cabotage regime works according to the Act establishing it.
Similarly, the management and editorial team of Maritime Management Series (MMS) Plus has joined in felicitating with the new NIMASA DG who assumed duty as the Director General/CEO of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) last week.
MMS Plus is a weekly newspaper which covers maritime, aviation, finance and oil and gas. It is the flagship brand of Kings Communication Limited.
