Customs approve implementation of career progression plans

Customs approve implementation of career progression plans

The Nigeria Customs Service Board said it has approved the implementation of a competency-based accelerated career progression plan for officers of the service.

This was contained in a statement recently issued by the National Public Relations Officer of the Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada.

He explained that the plan was a proactive strategy designed to close the generational gap that could lead to a leadership vacuum in the higher hierarchies of the Nigeria Customs Service if not addressed.

According to the statement, the chairperson of the board, who was also the former Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, expressed pleasure over the recent enactment of the new Customs Act.

Zainab said that to ensure trade facilitation, the board had planned to organise a retreat for its members and an expanded management team of NCS.
