Chapters Election: ANLCA Lift Ban On Campaign

The Association Electoral Commission (ASECO), the body constituted to conduct elections into the executions position of the association at all levels has announced that contestants into any elective office in Port Harcourt can now commerce campaign and electioneering processes.

The information is contained in a notice issued by the ASECO chairman, Abdulazeez Babatunde, who said the notice was in consonance with the association’s constitutional provisions under section 22(2)C.

Quoting the section, he said, “In case if the chapter Executive Committee, the Chairman of ASECO shall by a publication made 3 months before the expiration if the chapter officers’ tenure lift ban on campaign into the various offices.”

He stated further that the tenure of the present executives expires on 8th December, 2014.

The affected chapters include; Onne, Oil and Gas Airport and Area 1, all in Port Harcourt.

Speaking with MMS Plus Weekly on phone, the ASECO chairman said that no date had been fixed for the election yet.
