BEARS: Stingy Truck Owners
The controversy following the proposed N10, 000 annual truck levy by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) took a frightening dimension last week as the Coalition of Port Dry Cargo Transport Operators disrupted activities at the Lagos Port Complex (LPC), Apapa over the fees.
Apapa roads are already characterized by gridlocks and the members of the union should not compound the worries of commuters of the Apapa road over their flimsy anti N10, 000 crusade.
Is the N10, 000 levy too big for a truck for a year? How much would be appropriate? Do they realize they are also responsible for damaging the nation’s fragile roads?
