BEARS: Analog Customs!

BEARS: Analog Customs!
The new Harmonized System (HS) 2022 edition of the World Customs Organization (WCO) has made some major changes to HS Codes with a total of 351 sets of amendments covering a wide range of goods moving across borders.
According to WCO these changes took effect on January 1st, 2022 but the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is yet to make an public statement or a simple post via its online portal about the changes. HS Codes are used worldwide for the uniform classification of goods traded internationally.
Is the NCS truly archaic or does the service delight in the complications that arise with frustrating freight agents and their shippers?
One would expect that as WCO dishes out new directives, the NCS online portal would pick such statements and update its website accordingly. Shouldn’t that be the norm? But, if you ask me, who I go ask?
