Technology Germane To Maritime Industry Growth – Dr. Peterside

Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside has stated that technology is an enabler required for the growth of the maritime industry. 

The DG who said this when members of the Lagos Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) led by the President, Mr. Tope Aladenusi paid him a courtesy visit at the Agency’s Head Office in Lagos, noted that technology is dynamic and NIMASA is always willing to avail itself to technological changes.

Dr. Peterside also highlighted that Digital Transformation Strategy is one of the five Medium Term Strategic Growth Plans of his administration intended to reposition the Agency and the maritime industry for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

“If there is one enabler that will change the way we work, it is technology and we are prepared to maximize its use in repositioning the Agency. That is why we welcome partnerships utilising technology that will be beneficial to the growth of the industry and the nation as a whole,” The DG stated.

Earlier in his address, the leader of the ISACA delegation, Mr. Tope Aladenusi expressed the readiness of the body to partner with the Agency in three (3) core areas which are; creating trust in the business technology environment, setting up standards and framework to aid regulatory oversight and training of NIMASA staff.

In fulfillment of its digital transformation programme, the administration of Dr. Peterside has commenced the re-engineering of processes and systems in NIMASA through automation to engender greater efficiency and eliminate revenue leakages.
