The World Bank-assisted State Employment and Expenditure for Result in Bayelsa State says the project has engaged over 4, 000 youths in the area of public works, road maintenance and sanitation.

The SEEFOR Project Coordinator in Bayelsa, Mr. Ayens Adogu, made this known while reeling out the successes so far recorded by the project in the state since its inception in 2013, saying the project would wind up in 2019.

Adogu said the development partners, including the World Bank and the European Union, approved a grant of $57m for the project duration of five years, out of which $37m had been accessed.

He explained that the Bayelsa State Government contributed about N150m annually to the project, adding that the state government had been a key factor in the success story of the project.

The coordinator also said apart from non-graduates beneficiaries, over 80 young graduates had been engaged in entrepreneurship under SEEFOR public works component in the state.

He explained that some of the youths were engaged in both money management and training by the world Bank and European Union assisted programmes.

Adogu, who said SEEROR was actually a state government programme, noted that apart from Bayelsa, three other states – Edo, Delta and Rivers, were beneficiaries of the programme.
