New Maritime Research Center Debuts

maritme researchA newly registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Centre for Transport and Maritime Research (CTMR) has recorded membership across the country despite its relative newness.

The NGO which was registered in August 5, 2014 by the Corporate Affairs Commission on August 5 now has membership numbering 35.

The centre will engage in research on transport and Maritime matters and organise seminars, training programs and workshops in the industry.

It will also provide validation research services and facilitate researchers programs that can assist the nation in the area of transport and maritime.

It will further assist in program design, curriculum and content delivery, equipping the public through journals with necessary research information that can improve the system of transport and maritime in the country.

The mastermind of the centre Prince Godwin Don-Aki said that “very shortly CTMR will write or visit stakeholders in the Transport and Maritime Industry in order to chart the way forward in this very important sector of Nigeria’s economy with the view of making sure that Nigeria by the year 2020 will be at par with other developed nations”.

The Board of Trustees of the centre include Prince Godwin Ochuko Don-Aki, former sole Administrator, Institute of Transport Administration in Nigeria, Sir Victor Ashinobi, Managing Director/CEO Broad view Logistics Services, Chief Lucky Eze Onumaegbu, Executive Chairman, Leostar Shipping (Nig) Limited.

Others include Dr. (Mrs) Teresa Essien, Broadcaster /Consultant, Managing Director/CEO Frontline ACE Global Resources Limited and lastly Mrs Nkechi Rita Akpu, Director-General Global Business and Transport Management School, Lagos.

The centre is poised for activity and will be holding an international seminar early 2015 to create more awareness.
