MMS Hall of Fame 2025: Leveraging Technology to Advance Gender- Equality

On November 20, 2025, women of substance across the nation and beyond converged in Abuja for the 2025 edition of MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame Induction and 2nd International Women’s Leadership Summit. Influential women leaders, policymakers, professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, agencies, technology experts, and emerging voices were all part of the gathering at the prestigious Nicon Luxury, Abuja.

The theme of this year’s summit was “Fostering Sustainability, Women and Leadership with Technologies”.

Despite some unforeseen hitches, the event took place, and like previous editions turned out to be a memorable one with the usual glamour and candor.

The 2025 MMS Hall of Fame Induction and International Women’s Leadership Summit successfully advanced critical discussions on sustainability, leadership, and technology.
The edition combined intellectual discourse with recognition, featuring keynote addresses, paper presentations, panel sessions, and the usual award/induction ceremony which honoured women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership impact.

Discussions were driven by the theme of the summit: “Fostering Sustainability, Women and Leadership with Technologies,” which was deliberately chosen by the organizers to highlight the urgent need for gender-inclusive technological advancement, and to promote sustainability in leadership, innovation, education, governance, and socio-economic development.

The summit particularly emphasized leveraging technology to support gender diversity, expand learning opportunities through alternative and informal education, and deepen the participation of Northern Nigerian women in national development.

The focus was on gender diversity, equality and inclusivity in career and work place, political and corporate leadership, capacity building as well as role modeling through mentoring women and younger generations in their chosen professions, and instill enviable home management and entrepreneurial culture into younger generations.

At the end, in line with the theme, the summit reinforced the urgency of empowering women through digital inclusion while spotlighting exemplary leaders whose achievements continue to shape social and economic development. The key take home was a call to collective action—one that prioritizes women’s voices, harnesses technology for inclusive progress, and champions sustainability as a national priority.

Specifically, the event consisted of two major components: The Summit session, comprising keynote presentations –paper presentations and panel discussions –and The MMS Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which recognized exceptional women for their leadership impact, innovation, advocacy, and contributions to national development. There were morning and evening sessions. While the morning session focused mainly on the summit with paper presentations and discussions, the evening session, though a continuation of the morning session, centred on the inductions and awards.

The leadership summit kicked off with a welcome address by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MMS Hall of Fame initiative, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke, who stated that the thematic direction of the summit sought to:

Speaking on the theme of the summit with the sub-title: “Being Curious about Women in the Tech Industry and Sustainable Leadership”, Dr. Ogbonna set the tone for the summit.

She highlighted women’s full participation and progress in the tech ecosystem despite structural, cultural and systemic barriers, as well as, the future sustainability of women’s leadership in view of organizations’ emphasis on leaders who can balance innovation with environmental consciousness, profitability with ethics and ambition with long term societal impact.

The Political Science lecturer stated that women leading in large scale innovation is rooted in curiosity which fuels research, invention, and policy, adding that sustaining the leadership in future resides in creativity and resilience.

She opined that nurturing sustainable leadership entails creating inclusive pathways for girls and women to enter and thrive in tech, redesigning corporate cultures that disproportionately exclude women, supporting leadership development that integrates sustainability as a core competency and championing policies that protect equity, innovation and environmental responsibility.
