The figure was N14, 230, 582, 618.72 higher than N60, 056, 125, 823.28k collected in the same period in the year 2022.

The Controller of the MMAC, Comptroller MS Yusuf, made this known Wednesday while addressing the public on the activities of the command.

Yusuf informed that the MMAC had met 23% of its annual target. “This was made possible as a result of the resilience of officers in ensuring that agents were made to do proper declarations and to adhere strictly to import/export guidelines in tandem with extant laws.”

He noted that the command intercepted unregistered pharmaceutical products suspected to be tramadol tablets with the cumulative duty paid value of N3, 556, 802, 942.18K and arrested suspects in connection with the drug. “In the area of anti-smelling activities, our officers and men are not resting on their oars in enforcing government fiscal policies and other trade guidelines.

The shipment was intercepted on the suspicion of exceeding the approved threshold by the Federal Government,” said Comptroller Yusuf, who handed over the drug to the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). In the area of stakeholders’ engagement,

The Controller thanked critical stakeholders and other government agencies cooperating with the command “while carrying out the statutory mandate in the state.”

He also commended the Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for providing an enabling environment as regards the renovation of the command’s head office. Yusuf said the renovation has boosted the morale of officers and men and lifted their level of productivity.
