Military seeks cordial working relationship with the NCS
THE CONTROLLER FEDERAL OPERATIONS UNIT, ZONE ‘A’ TURAKI USMAN ADAMU, RECEIVES COMMANDER 9 BRIGADE IKEJA, BRIGADIER GENERAL A.M SABO TO FOU ‘A’ DURING HIS COURTESY VISIT ON WEDNESDAY 20TH MAY, 2015.

The Commander 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General A.M Sabo, has highlighted the need for continued cordial relationship between the military and the customs, this he disclosed during a courtesy visit to the Controller, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’ Ikeja, Controller Turaki Usman Adamu.

Brigade Commander Sabo in his presentation expressed satisfaction with the quality of the guard of honor. He stated that his visit was informed by the desire of the Nigeria Army to further strengthen the existing relationship between them and the Nigeria Customs Service.

He noted that such mutual understanding will further enhance mutual cooperation. He eulogized the Customs Management under the Comptroller-General of Customs for the reforms which had been carried out in the Service.

In his response, the Controller Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’, Controller Turaki Usman Adamu thanked the Brigade Commander for the visit, stating that it will afford the two agencies the opportunity to further bolster the existing relationship.

He stated that he felt deeply honored with the visit and promised to work towards sustaining the age long relationship between the Army and the NCS. The Controller thanked the Military particularly those around the Border areas for their supportive role to the Customs whenever they were called upon and requested the Commander to continually assist the Service through operational backups whenever the need arise.

In the related development, a delegation from the Lagos State Ministry of Environmental Services led by the Deputy Director in the Ministry Dr. (Mrs.) Iyabo Philips also paid a courtesy visit to the Unit on the same day.

She remarked that the visit was aimed at familiarizing with the leadership of FOU ‘A’ and  that the Lagos Ministry of Environment is poised to ensuring sustainable environmental management which she said led to the creation of the Zero Tolerance programme.

She stated that the essence is to curb environmental abuses, degradations and manipulations. She however made some observations on some attitudes capable of militating against their effort.

In his response, the Controller also thanked her for the visit as he pointed out that the Unit has Zero Tolerance towards environmental issues.

He promised that the Customs will always support the effort of the Lagos State Government to keep Lagos clean.
