FOU Zone A Customs Makes N607m Worth Of Seizure In One Month

The Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) Federal Operation Unit (FOU) Zone A, Ikeja, Lagos has made over N607 million worth of seizure in one month as ten suspects have been nabbed in connection with the seizures.
Disclosing this at a press briefing on Wednesday, the Command’s Customs Area Controller, Compt. Mohammed Garba said, ‘’we have intercepted various contrabands with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N334,042,396.8, while we recovered a total of N275, 675,138.75 as duty payments and demand notices(DN) on general goods that tried to beat the system from seaports, airport and border stations in the guise of false declaration, transfer of value, and shortchange in duty payment that are meant for the federal government of Nigeria”.
According to him, among the seized goods are 6,356 bags of foreign parboiled rice of 50kg each with DPV of N78,395,221.8; 2,495 Cartons of frozen poultry products with DPV of N22,455,000; 13 units Vehicles with DPV of N58,819,500; general goods with DPV N78,091,850; 384 parcels of 232kg India Hemp with DPV N18, 432,000, among others.
While commending the officers and men of the command for their commitment to duty, Compt. Garba appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs , Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) for inspiring them and providing the needed logistics that made the seizures possible.
