Customs command increases Q1 revenue collection to N7.97bnThe Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has said its revenue collection rose by 36.8 per cent to N7.97bn in the first quarter of this year.

The Comptroller of the command, Mr Hammi Swomen, disclosed this at a press briefing.

He said, “On my resumption to the command on the eighth of December, last year, I met with the management team of the command and stakeholders and we discussed our objectives for the command.

“I informed my officers on the need for integrity, transparency in the performance of duties, proper physical examinations of imported cargoes, revenue collection into the federation and non-federation account and trade facilitation. I am happy to announce to you that in our first quarter report of 2021, we have made substantial progress.”

According to him, the command collected a total of N7,968,865,907.00 in Q1 2021.

“This collection surpasses the comparative period of 2020 that is the first quarter which had N5.8bn. The new collection amounts to a 36.8 per cent increase,” Swomen said.
