Covid-19: MMS WoFHoF Postpones Event, Urges Public To Stay Safe

MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame (WoFHoF) Initiative has postponed its Hall of Famers’ Day celebration as a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, even as the Initiative urged the public to adhere to stipulated health safety measures.

The event initially slated for April 2nd, 2020, is the 3rd annual Hall of Famers’ Day to be organized in commemoration of the 2020 International Women’s day (IWD).

The Founder, MMS WoFHoF Initiative, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke announced the postponement of the celebration last week, noting that the new date would be communicated soonest.

Meanwhile, he urged the public to take seriously the safety precautions announced by the Ministry of Healthy and stay safe by frequently washing hands, using hand sanitizers, ensure social distancing, among others.

The event, which would have over ten women of substance recognized as United Nation’s Generation Amazons, would hold at Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi, Lagos from 4pm, and also featuring some of the beneficiaries of 5W-250,000 grant scheme reeling out their testimonials.

The event would have the Chairperson, Nigerian Ship-Owners Forum, Barr. (Mrs.) Margaret Orakwusi, as the Chief Host; while the Chairman would be the Lagos Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Mrs. Phil Nneji. The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen will be the Special Guest of Honour, while the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi will be the Chief Guest.

The UN Generation Amazons to be celebrated at the event have been selected from Nigeria’s transportation, finance, oil and gas, among other sectors. They are; Mrs. Olufunmilayo Olotu, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, Mrs. Sarat Braimah, Mrs. Stella Romaine, Mrs. Bridget Gold, Mrs. Rejoice Ndudinachi, Mrs. Princess Chi Ezeh, Mrs. Felicia Agubata, Mrs. Victoria Shin-aba.

Others are; Mrs. Victoria Tarfa, Mrs. Ebele Okoyo, Mrs. Obelle Joy, Mrs. Marie Ehemeiri Asein, Mrs. Christabel Eromosele, Mrs. Folake Soyinka, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika and Mrs. Mercy Ebere.

MMS WoFHoF Initiative has empowered over three hundred women via career and entrepreneurship mentoring as well as provision of small and micro credit grants.

While the United Nation’s theme is; “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Right” MMS WoFHoF created its theme for the year “Equality begins with Me”.

The event would also feature the celebration of the Most Outstanding Maritime Industry Employee of the Year 2019, Mrs. Constance Omagbemi.

“Omagbemi was the Staff of the Year 2019 at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and she is set to be celebrated by MMS WoFHoF for her exploits,” he added.

The upcoming MMS Hall of Famers’ Day is supported by Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Chevron and other reputable organizations.

MMS WoFHoF is a non -profit organization with the preoccupation of empowering, training, and producing the next generation of women leaders in the maritime, oil and gas, finance, aviation as well as political leadership sectors.
