MMS Plus Weekly can authoritatively report that the present scribe of the Nigerian Indigenous Ship-Owners Association (NISA), Capt. Dada Labinjo is among the candidates jostling for the post of the NISA in the forth-coming elections on October 9, 2014.

This is contained in a release titled: Declaration of Intention, where he made his ambition public to members of the association.

According to the release, Capt. Labinjo is contesting for the seat of the president in order that the growth of the maritime potentials which is dependent on ship ownership may be developed by his administration if he is elected.

The release read, “Not long ago, I did an objective evaluation of our association and that of the maritime industry generally vis-a-vis the Nigerian economy, it is so sad that Nigeria being 26th economy in the world and the largest economy in Africa but maritime with all its potentials, is estimated to have contributed a mere 1.6% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation according to the recent release by Bureau of National Statistics, you will agree with me that the potentials of our industry remains highly untapped.”

The NISA Secretary enjoins members of the association to afford him the opportunity to serve in a higher capacity than he had done before in order to maximise the potentials of the maritime sector.
