BULLS: Minimum Wage Victory
This week, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the N30,000 National Minimum Wage Bill into law after several delays.
This makes it compulsory for all employers of labour in Nigeria to pay to their workers the sum of N30,000. The bill also gives the workers the right, if compelled by any circumstance to accept a salary that is less than N30,000, to sue the employer to recover the balance.
Although the minimum wage is really minimal, it would lead to improved productivity among workers and also raise their purchasing power. We hope that the President continues to assent more bills that will improve the lives of Nigerians.
