Book Unveils Why Customs Officers Don’t Facilitate Trade In Nigeria
The Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command in conjunction with Compt.(Dr) Ben Oramalugo last week unveiled a book titled: “Customs Administration In Nigeria“. The book discusses the tools for managing Customs in the digital age and the challenges posed to its operations and how to overcome them, while revealing how Customs administration sustained the colonial economy. Trade facilitation is said to be inevitable in the emerging new world trade order hence the bouts of reforms and modernisation in Nigeria Customs Service, the author has posited but he admits that the practice in Nigeria is still far from being inclined to facilitating trade due to non- compliance level and application of discretional powers by officers and other agencies of government.
