President Mohammadu Buhari had rode to power after promising Nigerians in his manifesto that he was out to cut the cost of governance and fight corruption. However, the 2016 budget has over N500 million budgeted for Cable Television for the Aso Rock. At such a time when the economy of the nation is at the mercy of the ever dwindling crude oil prices, we wonder why the Presidency doesn’t think N500 million is too much for Cable Television. Perhaps the President needs to be reminded that at the heart of his manifesto was the promise to cut the cost of governance.
