BEARS: Empty Executive Promises
BEARS thumbs Down Empty Executive Promises

When the Minister of Transportation Hon. Rotimi Amaechi stated Nigeria would have a national carrier (for ships) before the end of 2016, maritime stakeholders knew that the chances of realizing this were slim as the Minister was brimming with anxiety to make early achievements in the sector. Almost a year after, the maritime sector isn’t any inch closer to attaining a national carrier as it was when Amaechi gave the assurance.

Last week, Amaechi added that there were plans to dredge the Calabar seaport through a PPP arrangement; even as he gave an assurance that the problem of traffic gridlock on the road leading to the Apapa Port in Lagos would be over by December this year.

Why raise the hopes of Nigerians only to dash them? It would be miraculous to achieve this feat in six (6) months not to talk of two-three months!
