BEARS:  Can Touts Rivalry

Despite the presence of armed military personnel on the Tin Can/ Mile 2 expressway, the operations of touts has increased to the level that they have territorial battles over extortion hotspots on the roads.

On Tuesday last week, our correspondent observed a heated argument which led to battering of fists as touts popularly known as ‘Area boys’ fought over an extortion point for motorcyclists leaving commuters stranded for almost 15minutes.

While the scene created a live performance for lovers of Wrestling entertainment, it was a disruption that left port users in awe.

Police officers and other security personnel were also seen watching the event without any attempt to intervene.
