The Federal Government has said it will be engaging terminal operators for the rehabilitation of the $800m (about N593bn) ports of Apapa, Tincan, and others.
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, said this on Monday when he was led on a familiarisation visit to Apapa and Tincan Island ports by the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Muhammed Bello-Koko, and his management team.

Some of the terminals visited are AP Muller Terminal, ENL, Dangote, Greenville Development Nigeria Limited, ABTL, NPA Dockyard, Josephdam, Ports &Terminal Multipurpose Limited, Port & Terminal Multipurpose Limited, among others.
Recall that Bello-Koko in April, explained that the agency might be spending up to $800m for the reconstruction of some of the country’s seaports.

However, reacting to this, Oyetola said the port was almost collapsing, adding that the reconstruction would commence soon.
“The port is almost collapsing, a major rehabilitation has to be carried out, and that is perhaps the major thing. Am looking forward to a situation whereby the terminal managers would be willing to contribute towards the rehabilitation of the ports, it is important. If you do that, you are going to make more money.
