LASU Solicits Partnership With MultiMix Academy To Upscale Learning
By Sabastine Mbah
The Lagos State University has expressed its interest to collaborate with MultiMix Academy to share platforms that would help to drive learning in the Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain Industry.
Speaking on Wednesday during the public presentation of the Nigerian Logistic and Supply Chain Industry Report, the immediate past Dean Faculty of Transport, Professor Samuel Odewunmi gave reasons why something of this sort was long overdue. He argued that if MultiMix could collaborate with the Malaysia University, it was only proper that something similar should be applicable to Nigeria Institutions. He maintained that the areas of collaborations are countless.
Meanwhile Prof. Odewunmi who was also the Report Reviewer, highlighted reasons for such synergy and the benefits inherent. He acknowledged the vast and extensive practical knowledge that the academy possesses and how students of LASU particularly post graduate students can benefit from it. Similarly, he noted that most MultiMix teachers are practitioners of the industry which gave them an edge over the university community that are mainly theorists. He also laid credence to the rich academic resources and data which are obtained from the field of practice and placed them on a better pedestal.
On the other hand, Prof. Odewunmi hinted that the university would open their warehouse of arsenal and bring out those things the academy was lacking. “we have the license to grant degree, we have international and national networks and we are partnering with various organizations across the world including the African Resources Centre of Excellence (ARCE) boasted Professor Samuel Odewunmi.
Reacting to the gesture, Dr Obiora Madu Chairman of MultiMix Academy and Director General of African Centre for Supply Chain said “The collaboration has taken a long time coming. With what they have and what we have from the private sector perspective, the industry will witness a lot of progress in capacity building which is a very problematic area. There is a huge talent scarcity in the industry and the collaboration will go a long way”.
Also in attendance was the current dean of the Faculty of Transport LASU, Professor Charles Asaneme, a senior lecturer and also an awardee, Ogochukwu Ugboma PhD.
