The Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje will lead the unveiling of Dala Inland Dry Port’s logo and theme on Monday, March 7th, 2022 with the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and other bigwigs set to grace the occasion.
Other dignitaries expected to at the event include; the Minister of Industry and Investments, Hon. Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, Chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, the Chairman, Council of Emirs, HRH Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, among others.
The event scheduled to take place in Abuja at Transcorp Hilton, Lagos Hall by 11am, would also witness the unveiling of the Kano Economic and Diaspora Investment Summit 2022.
It is expected that the unveiling of the Kano dry port logo and theme is a prelude to the Kano Economic Summit which comes up in May 2022.
Dala Inland Dry Port is one of the major projects in Kano tipped to attract volumes of economic activities to the State, boost the infrastructural development, increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and also increase employment opportunities.
The Dala inland port, which cost $27 million, is located in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state and Kano State Government has also spent N2.3 billion for the construction of access road, perimeter fence, electricity and water supply at the site which was birthed by the Federal Government 20 years ago and designated a Special Economic Zone.
The port should accommodate about 20,020ft units of capacity, which is expected to be increased to 50,000ft equivalent unit three years after.
Beyond Nigeria, the inland dry port is expected to boost regional trade with other West African countries including the Republic of Niger and Chad, as well as Northern Cameroun.
The port is taking advantage of the rail infrastructure of the country, especially the rail from Kano to Jibia in Katsina, and rail from Lagos to Kano State, which will serve as the pedestal for the success of the Dala port operations.
Licensed since 2006 as Public Private Partnership project, the port is situated on 200 hectares of land with the potential to provide over 20,000 job opportunities.
