Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO), on a hot pursuit of a commercial bus driver was driving against the traffic on a one way lane, close to Berger Cement, along Apapa Expressway and ran head-long into an on-coming lone motorcycle rider, popularly known as ‘okada’ at highspeed, knocked him down and squashed his head before grinding to a halt.
The Okada man died on the spot and other okada riders went berserk, the officers barely escaped with their lives but their van was not spared. Thanks to the timely intervention of the army on patrol, the van would have been set ablaze.
