Few hours after the first incident of coronavirus was reported in Nigeria on Friday morning, the Medical Division of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) began temperature reporting, enforcing regular hand washing and distributed hand sanitizers to all employees.
The medical team also briefed
workers that yellow-flagged ships mean that such vessels were carrying sick patients and urged them to report such vessels to Port Health.
NPA headquarters and the Tin Can Island Customs have been quick to create awareness on coronavirus to limit the outbreak at the port environment. Other agencies should speedily emulate these agencies.
