Women have charged corporate organizations to see the need to focus on dedicating certain percentage of their corporate social responsibility votes to empowering women to have equal participation with their male counterparts in the corporate world.

Margaret Orakwusi and the Deputy Director, Public Relations of the Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency (NIMASA), Hajia Lami Tumaka.

The inductees are; the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of The African Gas Association (TAGA) Ms. Anne Etoke who flew all the way from the US to be inducted at the event said, “I really feel honored to be one of the inductees of MMS plus 2015 Women Of Fortune Hall Fame, the theme of today really touched a core in me because as far as CSR is concerned, that is one of my huge vision in the African Gas Association.

“I am aways looking for avenues to give back to the community where our oil and gas company sprout from. I have adopted several orphanages, I am looking into widows and I am trying to see how we can work together with regulators to see how we can put down some policies which can encourage more oil and gas companies to provide infrastructures like roads, hospitals and to give back to these host communities where they explore oil gas from.”

For the Convener of MMS Plus Hall Of Fame, Anne stated, “I am really proud of this initiative that recognizes women because I have a medical background but two years ago I decided to join the oil and gas industry and form this organization that has been doing extremely well . So MMS Plus is really celebrating women who have done well in their field and that should inspire the younger generation of women to be more focused in their careers, so that one day, they too can be celebrated for their hard work.” She added.

Similarly, Dr. Ibilola Amao the Principal Consultant of Lonadek Oil and Gas Consulting said, “I feel great, I feel honored, I thank God for his mercies and I thank God that somebody has chosen to recognize me for my efforts, this has inspired me to continue doing what I am doing because I enjoy what I do, my passion is to develop the youths and women in science, technology and entrepreneurs, that is my life. I believe capacity building is critical to move Nigeria forward, for national development and solid economic transformation which looks at women from the perspectives of the gender that is not so much empowered, it is a very good initiative for organizations to incorporate a social responsibility in their agenda and to design it to look at the empowerment of women and children especially.

The General Manager, Medical Department of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Chinwe Abama who has left her footprints on the sands of time at NPA and one of the inductees said, “this day shows me that people have noticed, recognized and are now appreciating me for my efforts towards building people and the contributions I have made in the industry.”

The highlight of the event was the performance by the lady of songs and the Director General, National Centre for Women Development, Lady Onyeka Onwenu who was also one of the four inductees into the MMS plus 2015 Women Of Fortune Hall Fame, said “I am really honored to be here today and to be among all these beautiful and accomplished women and I believe that the women and children who have been displaced by Boko Haram should be the social civic responsibility of all to ensure their successful reintegration into the system.”
