Olaolu Emerges President Of Shippers’ Council Staff Cooperative Society

Comrade Adeyemi Olaolu has emerged as the new President , Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
Olaolu took over the mantle of leadership on Wednesday from Comrade Bashir Ambi as the 8th President of the Council’s Cooperative Society.
The newly elected President works under the Public Relations Unit of the Council and was the immediate past treasurer of the Cooperative.
Others elected include: Imma Zaliha as the Vice President , Engr. Nwel Mangu as General Secretary, Atuonwu Victor as the Assistant General Secretary, Okon Chris as Treasurer, Joyce Temisanren as Financial Secretary.
Matthew Oladunwo is the Cooperative’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ambi Bashir and Busayo Odu emerged as Ex Offical 1 and Ex Offical 11 respectively.
In his acceptance speech, the new President promised to add value for the cooperative society growth.
According to him, the major reason for forming the society is for members to pool resources together and define a structured plan and get to work inorder to look at the welfare of all members.
Olaolu’s words: “I accept the post of the President, with your full support. I will remain committed, motivated, energized, and engaged to the cause of society. As your President-Elect I believe that to whom much is given, much is expecte what I bring to our table are these skill sets, Build consensus and deliver results, establish trust, turn ideas into reality, doing the right thing at the right time for our society, also leading from the heart with a passion for the society.”
He noted that the position of Cooperative President holds enormous responsibility, thus “It is a position and responsibility that I accept while I continue to seek your support and input as we usher in a new era within ourselves.”
The new executives where urged to ensure an improvement on the net surplus fund of N384,493,251.84 left behind by the immediate past Executives as part of measures to enhance the fortunes of the members of the Cooperative.
The Executive Secretary/ CEO of Shippers’ Council, Hon. Emmanuel Jime made the observation in a keynote address he delivered at the 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM)/Election of the Society titled “he Place of Transparency, Accountability, Integrity Prudence as Tools in Managing Cooperative Fund, during COVID-19 Era.”
Jime said he was pleased with the unprecedented growth in the financial matrix of the past executives which revealed that it experienced growth in the year, adding that he expected that the situation would be better if sincere and committed leaders are voted into office.
His words: “The outgoing executives deserve our commendation due to the marked increase in the fund of the Society and the award it bagged from the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives with respect to its transparency and hardwork. That was the first of its kind since the inception of the Cooperative over 20 years in the Council. That to me is an Award not only to the Cooperative but also the NSC. We hope and expect more awards from the new executive.”
He equally charged the new executives to strive to surpass all the achievements of the immediate past executive which it met on ground, reminding the executives that they have been elected into positions of trust and that the management would not fold its hands and watch them squander the trust bestowed on them.
Earlier, the immediate past President of the NSC Cooperative, Malam Bashir Ambi- Mohammed noted that when his executive took the baton of office on April 19,2017 it inherited N30,442,770.89 adding that it was with the cooperation and trust of the members that the increase to N384,493,251.84 was achieved.
Ambi listed other achievements of his administration to include; the cost cutting policy it embarked upon to achieve transparency and integrity which made it maintain an expenditure profile of 9.6 percent and the Merit Award it got from the Lagos State.
Other successes include; the introduction of financial palliatives, automation of the Cooperative’s Account, commencement of payment of dividend electronically, introduction of advert placement in the AGM booklet, securing an office and employment of a cooperative staff, the introduction of children education loan, among others.
