NPA Acquires Fire Equipment At Tin Can Island Port

In line with the transformation agenda of the President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in the area of safety of lives and property, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has commissioned fire equipment at the Tin Can Island Port chapter of NPA in Lagos.

The Managing Director (MD) of NPA, Mallam Habib Abdullahi while commissioning the fire service trucks, stated that the procurement of the equipment was in fulfilment of the Corporate Social Responsibility policy of the authority.

He added that the equipment would not only be used for combating fire outbreak in the port and its environs but also to assist other agencies in Lagos state.

He commended the management and staff of Tin Can port for blazing the trail of excellence even as he commended the officers and men of the command for their efficiency which he said had earned the authority some awards and accolades.

In his remark, the General Manager, Health Safety and Environment, Engr. Talabi said that the equipment were of the highest standards which could take NPA to the highest level of safety as regards fire outbreak in and outside the ports.

He stated further that the fire officers have been adequately trained to handle the equipment and assured management that the equipment would be fully protected and maintained.

The fire engines and equipment commissioned include, six Rapid Response Mini Fire Engines, ten Fire Water Tankers and two Bronco Skylight (hydraulic platforms).
