The Director General (DG) of National Automotive Council (NAC), Alhaji Aminu Saleh has said that the council was out to make sure that all vehicles assembled in Nigeria must conform to international standard before they will be allowed into the market.

Speaking through a representative, Alhaji Abubakar Dalha at an event yesterday in Lagos, the NAC Boss said that the council was concerned about the standard of vehicles and vehicle parts that are assembled in the country because “we appreciate the importance of standards”.

He stated further that NAC was in the process of achieving the International Standard Organization (ISO) certification, the 1001 ISO certification which is the highest standard certification of the ISO.

According to him ‘we are in the process of doing 1001 ISO certification for now, we have reached a great level and we hope that before early next year, we will be able to comply with all the requirements.

He acknowledged the impact Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) plated in helping council adopt about 106 automotive standards and added that SON’s impact had been tremendous.
