The Nigerian Police Force

The Nigerian Police Force has raised alarm over fake car auctions notices that have taken over the various social media especially the facebook across the country.

The Force warned Nigerians against falling prey of the fake auctioneers who pretend to be customs officer but are not.

The warning was contained in a statement released on the official Facebook page of the national headquarters of the Police.

“Beware of an unrealistically low price! You can lose your money and identity! Don’t fall for phishing scams,” the short statement read.

The Police also advised that Nigerians should always ignore posts on auctions they see on social media.

“Don’t fall victim! Please advise your friends to do the same.”

However, Nigerians who visited the Facebook page of the Police applauded the Police for the warning some berated Customs for not doing enough to dissociate themselves from the fake auction messages.

According to one of the respondents, Salako Temitayo, he said the Nigerian Police should go extra mile by arresting the culprits.

“Thank you for the post but, I will implore the Nigerian Police to trace and arrest the culprits.”

Another friend of the facebook page, Vincent Amaefula, said the Police should investigate and arrest those involved.

“Good job guys but I think it should not end there, Police should investigate and fish out the people doing this so that others can learn from it.”

But Obed Samson criticized the Nigerian Customs Service for not doing enough to stop the spread of the message.

Obed said, “These scam messages have been viral in recent times and I expected the Nigerian Customs Service to have come on air to vehemently condemn and dissociate themselves from it. However, thank you NPF.”
