LSETF, UNDP to commence training for unemployed youths
The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme has revealed plans to commence vocational training for unemployed and underemployed youths.
The LSETF, in a statement on Wednesday, described the training as a reiteration to its employability support project, aimed at improving the pool of skilled and employable manpower in Lagos.
According to the fund managers, the initiative is expected to alleviate the acute shortage of employable labour in the construction, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality entertainment and garment-making sectors.
The statement said the vocational training was free, and would run for about four to eight weeks.
It said the LSETF team would be going on a tour of radio stations and communities to educate them about the importance of vocational skills in giving young and vulnerable youths a fighting chance.
The statement added that the team would inform employers about the benefits of recruiting their workforce from the project’s database of trained and certified workers during the tour.
